Legs For Literacy
Giving Back
As the event has grown...

... in number of participants, so too has our contribution to the community increased dramatically. By 2005 our event had become more established and we were able to make a charitable contribution of $1,500 that year.  The past five years have seen tremendous growth in our event, and in our ability to have an impact in our communities. In 2006, the AstraZeneca Legs for Literacy event raised $15,000 for Districts 1 and 2 for Literacy projects, and in 2007 we doubled that to $30,000. In 2011, we increased the total money raised to $53,500. happy finishers

In 2008 we undertook a review of our charitable activities and purpose, and among our guiding principles are the following important elements

  • Our giving approach will emphasize an equal emphasis on literacy programs in French and English
  • Our primary focus on literacy and youth will remain through a continuing commitment to the school boards of Districts 1 and 2, however we will also begin to expand our charitable donations to include adult literacy programs through the Moncton Literacy Coalition, or other initiatives.

We look forward to building a charitable giving program that will have a meaningful and lasting impact in our communities.
