The goal of the Cheer Challenge is two fold:
1. Encourage and inspire the runners along the course.
2. Compete for a cash prize of $500 to use at your discretion. The best cheer group wins!
We are accepting applications from schools to take part in this years’ event and we encourage each school to register a group! Your group can be anything from a school band, glee club, yearbook or chess club.
Each group entered will be assigned a location along the route from which to cheer.
School groups must have a teacher or parent volunteer accompany them at all times.
Schools will be judged on the following criteria:
• Inspiration - encouraging runners/walkers.
• Creativity - sing, dance, play instruments, decorate your cheer station, use your imagination.
• School Spirit - wear school colors, face paint, bring along your mascot.
• Staying Power - manning and cheering for the duration of the event.
This event is a great way to get kids in motion, involved in a community event and give them the opportunity to win a cash prize for their school group.

This year Marshview Middle School showed tremendous school spirit and motivated the marathoners on the last half of their 42.2k journey. They were located at the corner of Amirault and Fox Creek and turned more than a few heads with their enthusiastic cheering and school colors. We look forward to seeing Marshview and all the other schools at next years’ event. Thank you to all that took part. You really help make our event special.
On a sunny crisp morning, RMS cheered it's way to first place in the Middle School Cheer Challenge. The group was armed with noise makers, drums, posters and enough enthusiasm to fill the Bay of Fundy at low tide. The energetic group inspired the half and full marathon runners and walkers on Riverviews east end of the trail. We look forward to seeing Riverview Middle School and many more at next years event. A big thank you to all who took part!
Birchmount’s leadership class took home the inaugural Cheer Challenge award of $500.
Lead by teacher Adam Mullin, the group inspired runners on what started out as a very wet and windy day. Their costumes, banners, music and cheers encouraged the runners along the Riverview portion of the race. Birchmount will use the award money to fund materials for their new school mascot’s costume.
We look forward to seeing Birchmount School and many other schools again this year.
